California Curl

No I’m not talking surf dude!  I got my hands on some killer Redwood top sets and there are no two alike; and, each one really  is killer!  I didn’t know what to pair this wood with so my first endeavor was to go with the tried and true California Claro Walnut.   I didn’t want to upstage the Redwood, so I picked a back and side set that was somewhat subdued.  I used Oregon curly Maple for binding and some vintage style purfling to accent.  The neck is Oregon Black Walnut, the finger board and bridge are Macassar Ebony and the accents are Vanuatu Maidou burl. I’m impatiently waiting for Gotoh planetary tuners so that I can string this puppy up.   Go BIG or don’t go at all!
