September Koa Combo Custom Ukulele
Here’s another of my alternative wood combination custom ukuleles.
Occasionally I have unmatched book matched sets for tops only. Here is a classic example: the Koa of the sound board is so highly figured that it would be almost impossible to match with another back and side set. So, in order to showcase this spectacular wood, I have used a dark, subtle figure Claro Walnut for the body.
I have also used Sycamore for the binding just for a different look.
The finger board and bridge are ebony and the accent wood is the last of my Queensland Eucalyptus Burl. The neck is Honduran Mahogany and the tuners are Gotoh 4:1 planetary. I am presently using GHS flourocarbon strings with Sarah’s low “G”. They do not package this set as yet, but I am hoping to get them to do so in the near future.
