Moon Bear Super Tenor
Delivered late last year is this Moon Bear Super Tenor ukulele.
The woods selected for this build are compression Koa for back and sides and Canadian Bear Claw sitka spruce for the top. It’s hard to get a good picture of bear claw tops I’ve found, but I succeeded with these pictures.
In addition, there is a moon bear inlay on the head stock by inlay artist Craig Lavin.
The sound hole rosette, purfling and back strip are a matching, modified herringbone/rope pattern. Koa is also used for the neck, and the accent wood is Asian Sindora burl.
There you go–Moon Bear Super Tenor! This week NAMM show. Love it, hate it–lots of people and lots of noise (oh, I mean music), but I’m hoping to bring back lots of fun new ideas for future builds.
