Super Tenor Koa Ukulele - Sold
This is the next instrument completed. This is Kev’s Super Tenor Koa Ukulele. Kev is a local ukulele instructor with many years of experience and the author of multiple teaching books. His newly published website is Tiki Nation.
It’s All About The Woods
Body: all solid, curly Koa. Kev came to the shop and picked this set for the build.
Binding: going curly Koa all the way here. Black/maple purfling.
Fret Board and Bridge: non-radiused ebony. I did 19 frets rather than the standard 18 per Kev’s request.
Neck: Honduran mahogany with carbon fiber truss rod.
The Rest Of The Build
Tuners: Gotoh UPT.
Case: Crossrock ABS.
Nut and Saddle: unbleached bone.
Fret Markers: white MOP. Kev wanted simple fret board face markers for teaching purposes.
Strings: Pepe Romero tenor with wound low “G”. I supplied these strings to Kev on a previous build and he has been using them since.
And
Sounding good. I left the string tails long because Kev is having “upgrade” amplification installed (modified guitar amplification). He’s played the heck out of the last Kimo and it’s beginning to look a bit like Willy Nelson’s guitar. That’s a compliment in my book. This is a straight forward build without frills featuring the beauty and sound of Koa. So “Go Super Tenor Koa Ukulele”, “Go Kev”!
