Pomelle Sapele Concert Ukulele - Sold
It’s summer, it’s hot and I’m lazy! This Pomelle Sapele Concert Ukulele went out about 3 weeks ago.
It’s All About The Wood
Body: Pomelle Sapele. It really looks like this and it’s got a really sick figure.
Sound Board: Fort Ross Chapel Redwood.
Neck: Honduran Mahogany with carbon fiber truss rod. This is a “long neck” concert with a tenor 17″ scale.
Accent Woods: Pomelle Sapele.
Binding and Rosette: Yup, Pomelle Sapele with lime green and black purling.
Finger Boad and Bridge: radiused Brazilian Rosewood.
The Rest Of The Build
Strings: Pepe Romero tenor, low “G”.
Tuners: Gotoh UPT.
Amplification: Mi-Si.
Case: Crossrock fiberglass.
Nut and Saddle: unbleached bone.
And
Not bad. This Pomelle Sapele Concert Ukulele, with it’s smaller body and volume has a bit more punch than the tenor in the same woods. So, I’m thinking that it will hold up well for a variety of playing styles. I’ve always liked redwood sound boards–they are easy to play and have an interesting bright/clear, bell-tone note.
This is probably the second to the last concert instrument that I plan to make. The next will be a dark, curly Koa and then “that’s all she wrote”–at least for concerts.
