Compression Koa Curly Mango Super Tenor Ukulele - Custom Build
Here’s a new custom request. This is the Compression Koa Curly Mango Super Tenor Ukulele.
The Woods
Body: Compression curl Koa.
Binding: Curly Hawaiian Mango with white/black fiber purfling accents.
Rosette: Curly Mango “crescent moon” by request.
Neck: Honduran Mahogany with curly mango laminate and carbon fiber truss rod.
Accent Woods: curly Mango.
The Rest of the Build
Strings: Pepe Romero low “G”.
Tuners: Gotoh UPT, black with tulip knobs. I haven’t decided on final placement of the asymmetric tuner arrangement as yet. The tuner separation makes for much easier access with the vintage tulip knob look.
Case: Crossrock Fiberglass.
The Sound
This ukulele came out just after the last posted Chocolate Curly Koa Tenor Ukulele. Fortunately my ear was still acquainted with that instrument and I have to say, the additional volume of the super tenor does make a difference. I’d have to say that the woods are comparable and the bracing for the most part is the same. The sound is big and warmer than the standard tenor. Not complaining, just saying! The action is as low as it goes so it’s pretty easy to play. So there you go. The Compression Koa Curly Mango Super Tenor Ukulele in the mail tomorrow.
