It’s all about the wood
The body and sound board: all curly Koa.
The Binding: all curly Koa with sea foam green and black fiber purfling.
The Accent Woods and Rosette: all curly Koa.
The Neck: OK–Honduran Mahogany.
Fret Board and Bridge: African Ebony species.
The rest of the build
Fret Board Inlay: Pohaku by inlay specialist Craig Lavin.
Tuners: Waverly with curly Koa knobs.
Head Stock Inlay: palm and moon in Paua Abalone.
Amplification: Mi-Si passive.
Strings: Pepe Romero flourocarbon with wound low “G”.
Case: Crossrock Fiberglass.

The Pohaku Tenor Ukulele is a classic Koa instrument with a classic koa sound. I originally started this instrument as a spec build without a new owner. But, as luck would have it, an interested party got wind of the build just in time to get some specialized additions like the fret board and head stock inlays. I think this will make for a special Christmas for someone special.
