Bubinga And Swiss Tenor Ukulele - Sold
Bu, bu Bubinga And Swiss Tenor Ukulele. A standard uke.
It’s All About The Wood
Body: figured, blond Bubinga. I’m not sure what to call the figure here–pomelle, plum pudding, paisley, snake skin? Whatever, it’s kinda cool and rarely seen. Normally, I don’t favor the denser woods for ukulele builds, but this particular wood is not only unique in appearance but also much lower in density than the standard. This translates into a warmer sound.
Sound Board: Swiss Moon Spruce. Also a bit on the warm side, at least in my opinion.
Binding: Pomelle Sapele with maple/black purfling.
Finger Board and Bridge: your basic Brazilian Rosewood. Nut at 1.5″ and radiused.
Neck: Honduran Mahogany with carbon truss rod.
The Rest Of The Build
Nut and Saddle: stained bone.
Strings: Pepe Romero with wound low “G”.
Fret Board Markers: white MOP.
Case: Crossrock ABS.
Tuners: Gotoh UPT.
And
My pictures don’t quite do the color of this wood right. The close-up of figure and binding above might be the most accurate. I think this is a lighting problem that I’m going to have to fix. Having three instruments in the shop helped the client make a decision, this tenor being the warmest/fullest of the bunch. In addition, even with the wider nut she found it easier to bar chords than her current instrument–perfect, and I’m guessing the wood didn’t hinder. I’m not sure, but I think this is the last of this wood in my shop so maybe I should be saying bye, bye Bubinga And Swiss Tenor Ukulele?
