Lace Redwood and Maple Tenor Ukulele - Sold
Here’s one for the books. This is a PNW special–a Lace Redwood and Maple Tenor Ukulele.
It’s All About The Woods
Body: fiddleback curl Big Leaf Maple. Some of my private stock.
Sound Board: well I might have gone over with this Lace Redwood. Some call it burl but not this piece because it has a definite grain to it. Just a little bit of eye candy here.
Neck: curly Big Leaf Maple with carbon fiber truss rod.
Accent Woods: Lace redwood.
The Rest Of The Build
Fret Board and Bridge: stabilized, radiused Big Leaf Maple.
Bindng: curly Claro Walnut with maple/black purfling.
Strings: Pepe Romero Low “G”.
Tuners: Gotoh UPT.
Nut and Saddle: unbleached bone.
Case: Crossrock ABS.
And
This is a “theme” ukulele. With the exception of the body kerfing all the woods are from the PNW (pacific northwest). And it turned out better than I imagined. I’m always experimenting with alternative woods pushing the limits of the normal. The curly maple is a standard but not the redwood. Not quite as stabile as I might like but not bad either. The tone is very warm and full as I might have expected. This instrument was played side-by-side with four other instruments that I had available and I thought it performed well–offering both a “one-of-a-kind” look with rich sound.
This Lace Redwood and Maple Tenor Ukulele will be offered with a Christmas discount, so if you’re interested give me a call or note.
