Koa And Swiss Custom Ukulele - Sold
The latest out the door is this Koa And Swiss Custom Ukulele. This is the second to last “custom” instrument–maybe. I am definitely favoring simple looks in my builds at the present. These instruments are built to be played as much as admired. This is a classic with premium woods used throughout and simple decoration.
It’s All About The Woods
Body: Premium Koa. I like it curly and figured and not your everyday look. I think this Koa checks all the boxes. The source: Volcano Guitar Works.
Sound Board: the request was for Swiss Moon Spruce. I braced it with PNW Sitka Spruce.
Binding: curly Koa with maple/black purling accents.
Accent Woods: Koa.
Fret Board and Bridge: radiused Brazilian Rosewood.
Neck: Honduran Mahogany with carbon fiber truss rod.
The Rest Of The Build
Strings: Pepe Romero tenor, low “G”.
Tuners: Gotoh UPT.
Nut and Saddle: unbleached bone.
Fret Board Markers: white MOP.
Case: Crossrock ABS.
And
Filled all the P’s & Q’s, I think. The sound is Koa but a touch brighter than my usual Swiss, I think, but that is going to change very rapidly. The client was please and so am I with this Koa And Swiss Custom Ukulele.
