Redwood And Brazilian Custom Ukulele - Sold
Here’s the latest, a Redwood And Brazilian Custom Ukulele. This is a super tenor.
It’s All About The Woods
You know, some woods are just meant to be together!
Sound Board: Fort Ross “Chapel” Redwood. The church burned sometime in the past and some parts of the structure were salvaged. Most coveted is a beam or two from the chapel. Santa Cruz Guitars is presently using this wood in some of their most exclusive models. Redwood has a unique sound which I think is neither spruce or cedar–brilliant highs and moderate lows with great sustain.
Body: reclaimed Brazilian Rosewood. Maybe not that pretty but it’s the real deal and the real sound.
Binding: African pomelle Sapele. Color and curl, a great match. Maple/black purfling details.
Fret Board and Bridge: radiused Brazilian Rosewood.
Neck: Central American Mahogany with carbon truss rod. Sanded epoxy finish.
The Rest Of The Build
Tuners: Gotoh UPT.
Nut and Saddle: unbleached bone.
Strings: Romero, low “G“.
Fret Markers: white MOP.
Case: Crossrock ABS.
And
Here’s another “standard” build. I’m getting less interested in glitz and more interested in the pairing of great tonewoods. I think this will be a winner with just a little bit of time. First the strings need to set and then some playing for sure. The redwood top should open up substantially. The Brazilian is very thin and should provide the player with some sensory feedback as well. It already has great volume and tone but????can’t wait. It’s all about the woods and this Rosewood And Brazilian Custom Ukulele sure fills the bill.
