Classic Woods Baritone Ukulele - Sold
Here’s a Classic Woods Baritone Ukulele.
Let The Wood Speak For Itself
Body: Brazilian Rosewood. Although I’m not the biggest fan of denser woods in small instruments, I’ll have to admit that they do come to life with this big baritone ukulele. I hate to call it an ukulele since the sound is much more guitarish. One of these days I’ll do it with all metal strings. I’m guessing that this wood has been in the States for over 50 years–maybe longer. The dark stuff is usually considered old growth. Unfortunately it can be tough to work with having minor cracks, bug holes and blemishes. This set is no exception. You just work around the visuals for the sound.
Sound Board: Bearclaw Sitka Spruce. This is a classic sound board material so why try to re-create the wheel–it works.
Binding: curly Hawaiian Koa with maple/black purfling accents.
Finger Board and Bridge: radiused Brazilian Rosewood. 20″ scale.
Neck: Honduran Mahogany with carbon fiber truss rod.
Accent Woods: Koa.
The Rest Of The Build
Nut and Saddle: unbleached Bone.
Fret Board Markers: white MOP.
Strings: Oasis linear baritone with wound D/G.
Tuners: Gotoh 501 mini for ukulele.
Amplification: Mi-Si.
Case: Crossrock ABS.
And
As I already said this is a whole new class of ukulele. Very big and focused. I have another bari here with a koa body and a very low density top to compare with. I much prefer this combination of woods. Maybe a Classic Woods Baritone Ukulele is the way to go with all future baritone builds?
