As sweet as Mango

Believe it or not, this Mango I used in this ukulele is cut from the same board as the last two mango ukes posted.  You can see how the spalting changes dramatically in just one piece of wood.  I still like Mango for Hawaiian ukes.  It responds very well to light touch and is usually very warm and it is hard to beat the visual appearance.  I’m keeping the builds simple at the present with thin but colorful purfling–I think the red and black maple strips look good here.

I used African Limba for the neck since it was a perfect match in color with the Mango.  The fret board and bridge are Ebony and the accent wood is curly Black Walnut.   The instrument is strung with PHD and a Worth low “G”.
