The Love Machine Tenor Ukulele
This is a tenor ukulele custom built and delivered a couple of months ago. I’m calling this instrument The Love Machine Tenor Ukulele. This ukulele is built on my Hula Hips mold which is a wider and deeper conventional shape. The heart shaped sound port is by request.
The sound board is a really nice Alaskan Sitka Spruce. This wood is almost perfectly quartered (vertical grain) and has a wonderful medullary grain pattern. This spruce wood is salvaged from fallen trees in the Alaskan wilderness.
The back and sides are Hawaiian Koa which is also salvaged wood.
Inlay artist Larry Robinson is the force behind the Hawaiian “Honu” cut from bronze mother-of-pearl and inlayed on the head stock.
My client’s wife is the inspiration behind this build. She is a Kumu Hula and her husband is the musical voice.
The Love Machine Tenor Ukulele. Oh, love!
