Moon On Munn Tenor Ukulele - Sold

Done and gone.  This is the Moon On Munn Tenor Ukulele.  Munn is pronounced “mun”.  Close though!  This is a standard tenor.

Moon On Munn Tenor Ukulele

Swiss moon spruce soundboad.

It’s All About The Wood

Body:   Asian Munn Ebony.  I have built with this wood before with some really old stock from Tropical Hardwoods here in Carlsbad.  That might have been about 12 years ago?  Until recently, this wood has been unavailable.  Fortunately Elite Tonewoods gave me a sneak preview of a few sets that were processed recently and I just couldn’t resist. Tonally, like most ebonies, it would be considered bright and reflective; although, not as bright or resonant as rosewoods.  This set is wonderfully dark with sap wood figure.

Sound Board:  Swiss Moon Spruce.  This is a perfect pairing for this build keeping it in balance and not too bright or quacky.

Binding:  curly Hawaiian Koa with white/black purfling accents.

And

I like it.  Easy to play but holds up well if pushed.  For the smaller or standard ukulele size this instrument has a lot of voice.  I expect it will open up quickly as well.  So many songs with “moon” in the titles.  Let’s see,  “. . .oh give me a home where the buffalo roam and a Moon On Munn Tenor Ukulele is just for me.”  Catchy?  Hopefully that will keep a smile on your face for a minute or so!
