Moon Over Tasmania Tenor Ukulele - Sold

I think Tasmania might be a fun place to visit.  Don’t think I’m going this year so I’ve made another standard tenor ukulele “Moon Over Tasmania Tenor Ukulele“.  Maybe I should have made that “move over. . . “?

Moon Over Tasmania Tenor Ukulele

“D” sound hole in Swiss Moon Spruce.

It’s All About the Wood

Body:  Tasmanian Blackwood.  I acquired these sets from Gilmer Woods over 18 years ago and I am told they actually are from Tasmania not Australia.  The wood is the same though.  Got yer color, great straight grain and tight curl.  This wood is slightly more dense than cousin Koa and so, a bit brighter.

Tasmanian Blackwood body.

Sound Board:  Swiss Moon Spruce.  Another rare “D” sound hole–at least for me.  It works just as well as all the other configurations.  Bracing is Sitka spruce.

Binding and Accent Woods:  all Masur Birch with white/black fiber purfling.

Masur Birch binding.

Neck:  Honduran Mahogany with carbon truss rod.

Finger Board and Bridge:  west African Ebony.  This particular finger board has a little yellowish grain which blends well with the binding. Radiused with 1 3/8″ nut.

The Rest Of The Build

Tuners:  Gotoh UPT.

Masur Birch accents everywhere.

Strings:  Pepe Romero tenor with wound low “G”.

Case:  Crossrock ABS.

Nut and Saddle:  unbleached bone.

And

Not complaining.   This instrument has my “sound” which is warm and full.  Low action and a smallish neck make it an easy player for large or small hands.  Moon Over Tasmania Tenor Ukulele I’m on my way.
