Pomelle Sapele Custom Ukulele - Sold
Here’s another Pomelle Sapele Custom Ukulele. I just can’t get enough of this beautiful wood!
It’s All About The Wood
Sound Board: Western red cedar. I haven’t used this great tonewood for some time. I thought that it would be a great match for the sapele in color and tonality.
Body: Pomelle Sapele. I like the tone and appearance of “The Tree” mahogany but for my dollar I think this wood is a close second. I used a Washburn style back strip to spice it up a bit more–as if the figure needed it!
Binding: figured “blond” bubinga with maple black purfling.
Neck: Honduran mahogany with carbon fiber truss rod.
Finger Board and Bridge: radiused and stabilized Asian Satin Wood Burl. This burl is much harder than most and probably could be used without stabilization?
The Rest Of The Build
Accent Woods: bubinga.
Tuners: Gotoh UPT.
Strings: Pepe Romero, low “G”.4
Fret Board Markers: white MOP.
Case: Crossrock ABS.
And
Strings not set yet but my initial opinion is warmish and silky smooth. That description would fit with this combination of tonewoods, both having warmer tap tones. So there you go! Git yer Pomelle Sapele Custom Ukulele while you can ‘cus this wood ain’t gonna be available much longer?
