Munn And Dark Forest Cypress Tenor Ukulele - Sold
This is a fun and an eclectic build–a Munn And Dark Forest Cypress Tenor Ukulele. This is a super tenor shape. Ya ain’t gonna find one of these at your local shop!
It’s All About The Woods
Body: Figured Munn Ebony. This particular species of ebony from Asia can be highly figured. It’s really, really hard to find–I’ve been looking for years! I think this is a classic example with more coloring than might usually be seen. It’s a bit challenging to work with and can be prone to splitting as with black and white ebony. A fun look! It’s hard, dense and highly reflective so tone is focused and out there.
Sound Board: I’m still into this Dark Forest Cypress thing. I tried for a set with a bit less grey to match the body colors a bit more. Hmmm?
Finger Board and Bridge: radiused Brazilian Rosewood.
Binding and Accents: blond, curly, Hawaiian Koa.
Neck: Central American Mahogany with carbon truss rod.
The Rest Of The Build
Fret Markers: white MOP.
Nut and Saddle: unbleached bone.
Strings: Pepe Romero low “G”.
Case: Crossrock ABS.
Tuners: Gotoh UPT.
And
It’s gone already. I’ve got a few more sets of this particular wood so I’m going to build at least a baritone and another tenor with possibly redwood and/or figured spruce for sound boards? Not sure, just thinking out loud.
The tone is, in my opinion, very focused and forward. This I expected because of the combination of woods used. No complaints here. The new client says “The new one is so fantastic.” I guess that’s all I need for a Munn And Dark Forest Cypress Tenor Ukulele.
