Humpback Whale on a Sea of Koa
I only wish that I had been able to get better pictures of this tenor ukulele project. The Koa is spectacular, the build, in my opinion, totally Aloha. This Koa wood I obtained from Allied Lutherie–old growth, curly/quilty, air dryed and very old. I added my Humpback whale inlay to celebrate the annual migration to the Hawaiian Islands. The accent woods are Vanuatu Maidou burl, the finger board and bridge are Ebony species and the neck is Honduran Mahogany–you know, the usual. The sound–oh so nahenahe. Definitely a touchy feely instrument. It can be seen an played at Hale Ukulele in San Diego.
